Since I was a child and whenever my family members watched award ceremonies on television. We always see people from different places get awards from Mr. President of India and I have always been getting attracted that why the government is giving them so much honor. And what do these awards mean to them and, are there many more kinds of awards that honor the common citizen.
Different honors are given out on India’s Republic Day to citizens who have achieved in a variety of professions. On Republic Day, many honors are given away, which would include:
Bharat Ratna: India’s Highest Civilian Honor
The highest civilian award in the nation, the “Bharat Ratna,” was established in 1954. These prizes are open to everyone without regard to race, profession, position, or sexuality. It is given in honor of exceptionally excellent service or accomplishment in any area of human endeavor.
The Prime Minister personally recommends candidates for Bharat Ratna to the President. There is no need for official recommendations in this case. There can only be a maximum of three annual prizes given out in any given year.
The recipient of the award is given a medallion as well as a Sanad (certificate) that has been signed by the president. The Award carries no reward of money.
Padma Vibhushan: India’s Second Highest Civilian Honor
The Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service just behind the Bharat Ratna.
The award, which was established on January 2, 1954, is granted for “extraordinary and distinguished service,” without regard to a person’s race, profession, status, or sex. Doctors and scientists are included in the award requirements, however, individuals employed by public sector organizations are not.
The criteria also include “service in any discipline, including service performed by Government workers.” The award has been given to 325 people as of January 2022, including 19 late and 21 migrant recipients.
Padma Bhushan: India’s Third Highest Civilian Honor.
The third-highest civil award in the Republic of India is the Padma Bhushan Award.
On January 2, 1954, the Padma Bhushan Award was established. It is presented for “Distinguished Service of a High Order” and is given without regard to a person’s race, profession, position, or gender.
When the Padma Bhushan Award was initially established in 1954, 23 recipients received it. The states of the beneficiaries were as follows: Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, & Odisha.
Padma Shri: India’s Fourth Highest Civilian Honor.
Padma Shri award is delivered by the President of India at a ceremony held on the eve of Republic Day (26 January) each year. Who have made outstanding contributions to a variety of fields, including literature, science, social service, and the arts.
A committee of distinguished people select the recipients of the awards, and their decisions are based on suggestions made by the state and union territory governments, the ministry of home affairs, and the ministry of cultural affairs. A medallion, a certificate, and cash are presented as the reward.
Apart from these honors, a number of additional prizes, like the Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, and Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, are also given out on Republic Day. These honors are granted to people in recognition of their heroism, bravery, and unselfish service to the country.

A military honor in the Republic of India is the Kirti Chakra. It is given for eminent bravery in both peace and battle and is the second-highest military honor after the Param Vir Chakra.

The award is bestowed by the Indian President and is often given out on January 26th, Republic Day, which is a national holiday in India.
The name of the prize is a combination of the Sanskrit words “Jeevan Raksha,” which means protection of life, and “Sarvottam,” which means supreme. It is compared to the American Congressional Medal of Honor and the British George Cross.
